Owner, Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Jake Shields is the founder and owner of Iron Mitten Performance Physical Therapy in collaboration with Resilient Physical Therapy. He has spent 5 years in outpatient orthopedics and sports performance rehabilitation. Jake’s desire to become a physical therapist stemmed from his experience as a collegiate football player and working closely with rehabilitation professionals.
Jake is a dedicated physical therapist who helps patients of all ages improve performance and return to daily function, sports, and living an active lifestyle. Passionate about movement assessment and recovery, he provides individualized care that empowers patients to set obtainable goals and reach their maximum potential. Jake is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), has his Champion Performance-Specialist (C-PS) certification under the mentorship of world-renowned physical therapist, Mike Reinold, and holds certifications in Graston Technique and Functional Dry Needling.
Jake's experience as an athlete at Alma College shaped a deep understanding of the demands, setbacks, and discipline required to perform at a high level—becoming the foundation for creating Iron Mitten Performance Physical Therapy.
Outside of the clinic, Jake enjoys spending time with his wife Hannah, and their dog—Bogey. In his free time, you’ll find him weightlifting, hiking, traveling the great state of Michigan, and cheering on the Michigan Wolverines and Detroit Lions.

Dr. Brooke Cummings, Pt, DPT

Owner, Resilient Physical Therapy

Dr. Brooke Cummings is a seasoned physical therapist in outpatient orthopedics with over 15 years of experience. She holds a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Central Michigan University and a Bachelors in Kinesiology from Michigan State University. She has completed certifications in Kinesiotape, Grastons Technique, Owen's Recovery Blood Flow Restriction Therapy, Gary Gray 3D Maps, and dry needling with Intricate Art Spine & Body Solutions.
Brooke's approach is patient-centric, focusing on individualized care plans that cater to the unique needs of each patient. She believes in a holistic approach, combining physical therapy with lifestyle recommendations to promote overall well-being. Her sessions often incorporate mobility work, strengthening, pain management techniques and functional exercises, ensuring her patients lead active and pain-free lives.

Brooke is the mastermind in transitioning to a hybrid, 1-on-1, salon model within Resilient Physical Therapy's clinical space, allowing for clinical partnership with Iron Mitten Performance PT, and The Journey Functional Movement & Physical Therapy.

DANA YEOMANS, PT, MSPT
Pediatric Physical Therapist
Owner, The Journey Functional Movement & Physical Therapy

Dana has been providing pediatric physical therapy services for infants, children and adolescents in the greater Lansing area for over 30 years. During this time Dana has developed long standing relationships with pediatric medical providers to ensure optimal coordination of care. She has been successful in helping clients achieving goals in order to progress through their unique developmental Journey.
Having experience in hospital and trauma, virtual, home based and outpatient pediatric physical therapy has lead her to create an eclectic and unique outpatient private clinical practice. The Journey, PLLC has been established to focus on the use of manual medicine and functional developmental activities, incorporating education, collaboration and coaching. This is a holistic model, considering the whole child and family, in order to enhance the lives of young clients.
Educated in manipulative manual medicine techniques from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSU COM) Office of Continuing Medical Education. Dana has been appointed as Clinical Instructor serving in the education of resident Doctors of Osteopathy, providing pediatric care through client education at the MSU Health Care Manipulative Medicine Clinic, and as faculty in the Pediatric Manual Medicine curriculum for MSU COM Office of Continuing Medical Education.
